Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layer half of the filo pastry in the dish, brushing each sheet with butter. Spread the chopped nuts evenly over the pastry.
Layer the remaining filo pastry over the nuts, brushing each sheet with butter. Cut the baklava into squares using a sharp knife.
Bake in the preheated oven until the baklava is golden brown and crisp, about 50 minutes.
