Cut the pork into small cubes and season with the cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the lard over medium heat. Add the pork, carrots, onion, and garlic to the skillet and saute until the pork is cooked through.
Add the chicken stock to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
In a medium bowl, mix together the cornmeal and butter. Stir the cornmeal mixture into the pork mixture until combined.
Divide the pork mixture into the banana leaves and fold into tamales. Secure with kitchen twine.
Place the tamales in a steamer and steam for 45 minutes.
