Preheat your oven to 425°F. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
Dip each chicken breast in the egg to coat it lightly and hold the chicken over the liquid to let any excess fall back into the bowl. Then coat the chicken in breadcrumbs.
Place the chicken in a baking dish and top each breast with about 1/3 cup of tomato sauce. Layer each chicken breast with equal amounts of mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and provolone cheese. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese on top.
Bake until the chicken is no longer pink in the center and the cheeses are melted, about 15 minutes.
