Add flour, baking powder, cardamom and salt and mix until combined
Stir in chopped dates and pour batter into a greased and floured 9-inch cake pan
Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, and mix until combined.
Add milk and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, cardamom and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Stir in the chopped dates and pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
