Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
Add the chopped onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the tomato paste and cook for another 3 minutes.
Add the lamb, canned tomatoes, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, salt, pepper, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.
