In a medium bowl, mix together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup butter until light and fluffy. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time.
Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons milk.
Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
