Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cream together sugar and butter.
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Stir in vanilla extract and milk.
Fold in dry ingredients.
Core and thinly slice apples.
Toss apples in lemon juice.
Spread batter into a greased 9-inch springform pan.
Top with apples.
Mix together walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup butter until light and fluffy. Beat in 2 large eggs, one at a time.
Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons milk.
