In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating until each is incorporated.
Mix in the vanilla extract.
Alternately add the flour mixture and milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
Bake for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3 minutes on medium speed.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating until each is incorporated.
