In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, saute until onions are translucent.
Add the diced sweet potatoes to the pot along with the chili powder, cumin, and paprika. Stir until sweet potatoes are well coated in the spices.
Rinse and drain the black beans. Add the beans and the can of diced tomatoes to the pot.
Pour in the vegetable broth and stir everything together. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
