Peel the plantains by cutting off the ends and slicing down the length of the plantain to remove the skin. Slice the peeled plantains into 1/2 inch thick slices.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the plantain slices in a single layer and fry for about 3 minutes per side until golden brown. You may need to do this in batches if your skillet is not large enough to fit all the plantains in a single layer.
Once the plantains are golden brown, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Sprinkle with salt and serve.
