Bring the chicken broth to a boil in a medium saucepan. Make sure to use a saucepan that is large enough to hold all the ingredients.
Once the broth is boiling, stir in the grits and reduce the heat to low. Let the grits simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the grits are cooked, add the butter, cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper to the grits. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
In a separate skillet, cook the shrimp over medium-high heat until they are pink and cooked through. This should take about 5 minutes.
