In a medium saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat.
Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon and cardamom and cook for 1 minute.
Add the rice and stir to coat with the spices.
Add the water and salt and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Stir in the raisins, almonds and walnuts and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
