In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Add sugar, butter, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the butter.
Starting at one end, roll the dough up tightly. Cut the roll into 12 equal slices.
Place the slices in a greased baking dish. Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While the rolls are baking, make the icing. In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Spread the icing over the warm rolls before serving.
