Tiramisu is a popular Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa. The recipe has been adapted into many varieties of cakes and other desserts.

In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well blended.
Add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils.
Boil gently for 1 minute, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
In a medium bowl, beat cream and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Dip each ladyfinger into coffee and rum for 5 seconds.
Arrange half of soaked ladyfingers in bottom of a 7x11 inch dish.
Spread half of mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers, then half of whipped cream over that.
Repeat layers and sprinkle with cocoa.
