In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the onion, bell pepper and celery and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the rice and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
Add the chicken broth, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and parsley. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Stir in the sausage and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
