Drop the dough by tablespoonfuls into the hot oil, and fry for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove the beignets from the oil, and drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle the beignets with powdered sugar, and serve hot.

The dough should be soft, but not sticky. If it is too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until it is the right consistency.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness.
Cut the dough into 2-inch circles, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Heat the oil in a large pot or electric skillet to 375°F.
Drop the dough by tablespoonfuls into the hot oil, and fry for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove the beignets from the oil, and drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle the beignets with powdered sugar, and serve hot.
