In a large saucepan, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, heavy cream, and unsalted butter. Stir until the sugars have dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to prevent it from burning.
Once the mixture is boiling, stir in the pecan halves. Continue cooking the mixture, stirring constantly, until it reaches 235°F on a candy thermometer.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes, until it begins to thicken slightly.
Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto waxed paper. Allow the pralines to harden completely before serving.
